The Philadelphia Eagles made a bold move this offseason once free agency opened. The team signed Haason Reddick to a team-friendly deal of $45 million over three years. Little did anyone know how impactful this signing would be at the time but looking back at it now, it may be the greatest free agent signing in franchise history.

Reddick was far from a journeyman but he would eventually end up on his third team in three years. After being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2017, Reddick and the Cards were having a rough marriage. The Weapon has been misused in their defense and was possibly on the verge of being labeled as a bust.

It wasn’t until 2020 that Haason Reddick broke out and collected 12.5 sacks on the season for the Cardinals. Sure enough, Haason was on the cusp of Free Agency so many felt like it was his fight for his contract but truly it was a fight to save his career.

After his four-year stint with the Cardinals, Reddick chose to sign with the Panthers where he would build off of the 2020 season and become one of the most efficient pass rushers in the league. He finished his one season there with 11 sacks and it seemed as if Reddick’s career was finally hitting a turning point.

Fast forward to the last offseason when the Eagles signed Reddick and brought him back to his home and to the city he once played for in college. It was the home that Reddick wanted all along and the contract shows it. Haason truly broke out and has made a name for himself with the Eagles this season.

Reddick finished the regular season with 16 sacks and five forced fumbles with three of them being recovered. He helped paved the way for the Eagles to make it to the Super Bowl with his stellar play and his never say die attitude.

Although he was snubbed by not being a finalist for the DPOY award, Haason is onto something greater that may be more satisfying than an individual accolade. Reddick and the Eagles are playing in the Super Bowl in the very place that he once called home.

An Eagles’ redemption

He now has a chance to win a Super Bowl in Arizona, the place where his career was hanging in the balance, but also the birthplace of his resurgence. While the focus of the Bowl will be on the two QBs and coaches, Haason Reddick will find a way to truly make a name for himself and leave his mark in Arizona.
