South Korea vs Portugal

We’re getting into crunch time for the 2022 FIFA World Cup group stage and we could have another upset on the cards. If Ghana lose on Friday and South Korea can somehow pull off an upset against Portugal, then they’re through to the knockout stage. Will Portugal rest any of their players knowing that their place in the knockouts is already secured?

South Korea vs Portugal betting preview

South Korea scored twice in quick succession last time out, only to be undone by a Mohammed Kudus brace. Cho Gue-Sung scored two of his own in that matchup. He has 6 goals in 18 games for his country and would love nothing more than to add another when the team needs it most.

Son Heung-min will indeed start once again for South Korea. He’s done a great job battling back from a scary injury and is a vital cog in this team. South Korea will need Son to be at his best if they are to make their third knockout stage in their last 11 World Cup runs.

As for Portugal, they had a great win over Uruguay on Monday thanks to Bruno Fernandes. It’s wild to think that Portugal were being vastly overlooked at the beginning of this tournament due to all the noise surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo. It appears as though those worries have been put to bed with this team firing on all cylinders.

It would be smart for Portugal to make some changes ahead of this game. They have the luxury of time on their side knowing that this can basically be used as an exhibition game ahead of the knockouts. As a result, don’t be surprised to see South Korea throw the kitchen sink and go all out in a bid to secure their own World Cup furture.

South Korea vs Portugal betting pick

I like ‘Both Teams To Score’ here. There is something to be said for momentum and I think that Portugal will want to keep the machine running smoothly. But South Korea has already proven that it can handle a solid attack in Uruguay, and keep up with one in the way of Ghana. A score-draw would not be a surprise here and a bet on the game ending 1-1 is priced at +650, providing some saucy value for anyone bold enough.
