Ghana vs Uruguay betting preview
Ghana sits second in Group H following a big win over South Korea. Uruguay is surprisingly yet to score this competition and has a single point through the two games they’ve played in. Provided that South Korea draws or loses to Portugal, Uruguay can sneak through to the knockouts with a win against Ghana, but that would involve finding the back of the net.
This is uncharted territory for Uruguay. They reached the quarter-finals in both previous World Cups and have at least made the knockouts in every attempt since 2002. But this team isn’t getting any younger and the wrinkles are beginning to show. Both Suarez and Cavani were in their primes during their back-to-back quarter-final appearances, but both have underwhelmed here. There is some youth in the side, with players like Valverde and Nunez looking to buck the scoreless trend, but it will take more than two highly-talented players to break down this Ghana team.
Ghana might just have too much talent for Uruguay to handle. Kudus scored two last time out but has 5 goals in 14 games for Ajax. With the rapid Inaki Williams and both Jordan and Andre Ayew at their disposal, Ghana has a solution for almost every question Uruguay could ask of them. With Barcelona defender, Araujo, still likely sidelined, Ghana could have a significant advantage here.
Ghana vs Uruguay betting pick
I like Ghana to win this game. They played really confident football last time out and have no reason to take their foot of the gas. This is a must-win for Uruguay, but they’ve done nothing to inspire any kind of hope that they can right the ship when all the chips are down.
