Game Preview for Sixers/Hawks

Tobias Harris will need all of what he gave the Sixers last night and more in order to keep up with LaMelo Ball and the young, athletic Charlotte Hornets.

Harris put up 24 points and six rebounds last night, but what was even more impressive was the leadership he demonstrated in getting people in the right spots and commanding the floor to play together. For a team led by defensive-minded Steve Clifford, Charlotte loves to keep the tempo high and run downfield. Philly will look to Harris again to keep everyone calm and keep the pace of the game in the Sixers’ control.

LaMelo Ball will once again not play, putting pressure on other Hornets to create their own shots. That’ll be hard against P.J. Tucker, who we can expect to take on the tough task of guarding Terry Rozier after having three steals last night. It’ll take some big offensive games from athletic players like Kai Jones and Dennis Smith Jr. to keep this one close – both players can use their natural athletic ability to push around their defenders when the scripted players get messy.

Charlotte’s leading scorer is Kelly Oubre. That’s not great.

De’Anthony Melton will have the opportunity tonight to be the number two scorer again after having his best performance in a Philadelphia uniform last night. A balanced 22 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals were critical in providing Harris the support he needed to close out any potential late comeback from the Nets. Expect him to get increased volume against a Hornet’s defense with nowhere near as many options as Brooklyn, especially in the paint.

This one’s simple, expect a high-scoring close game that’ll get away from Charlotte in the fourth that’ll show once again why Tobias Harris is the best fourth option in the NBA.
