Brazil vs Serbia

After an exciting week of World Cup action, we’re now ready to see a team take the stage that many consider to be leading favorites. Brazil opens its campaign against Serbia and it’s safe to say that they are heavily expected to win this game. But as we’ve seen, there are no guarantees in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Brazil vs Serbia betting preview

We all know that Brazil are a superpower when it comes to World Cup competition, but did you know they’re unbeaten in group fixture play since 1998?! That doesn’t exactly bode well for a Serbian side who have lost 7 of their 9 total World Cup fixtures.

With that said, they have won 5 of their last 6 in all competitions, and will likely have to start the game without talisman striker, Aleksander Mitrovic. The Fulham striker had 8 goals in 8 qualifying games and if he isn’t 100%, it will absolutely sting them.

They will be pinning their attacking hopes on Dusan Tadic for the time being, who has a history of being very efficient for his nation. In World Cup qualification games, he’s notched 15 assists and 8 goals in 28 matches. With some physical midfielders and an excellent goalkeeper, the creativeness of Tadic will be huge if Serbia want to find the back of the net.

As for Brazil, we all know the score. Headlined by the prolific skillset of Neymar Jr., this is a refreshed squad. Explosive talents like Paqueta and Vinicious Jr. could be set for breakouts on the World Cup stage, and they’ll be led by the veteran presence of captain Thiago Silva.

Brazil vs Serbia betting pick

It would be tough to bet Brazil to win outright here just because there isn’t much in the way of value. With that said, I think backing Neymar to score first (+350) or anytime (+120) is a much more appealing option.

You could back the over 2.5 goals selection at -140, or if you’re feeling really adventurous, a Brazil win and over 2.5 goals is +225, which gives you some edge on a Brazil win.
