For a team who made the Euro 2020 Finals and were one game away from a World Cup Final appearance last time out, there’s certainly a lot of hesitation about this England squad. Fans have soured on Gareth Southgate due to his squad selection decisions and questionable game-management over the past few years and this may well be his last opportunity to prove them wrong.
As for Iran, they dropped a friendly to Tunisia on Wednesday and have never actually gotten out of the group stage of the tournament. They’ll have their work cut out against an England side that is littered with star power, but it’s an England side that is winless in its last 6 games.
While Harry Kane needs no introduction, much can be said about England’s back four. Porto striker, Mehdi Taremi, will be looking to rub salt in the wounds. He’s scored 11 goals for Porto this season and has 28 goals in 60 games for his country. I wouldn’t put it past him to score tomorrow.
