Sixers vs Hawks betting preview

Joel Embiid was really solid last time out, but even Doc Rivers mentioned he got fatigued down the stretch in his first game back. The star big-man leads the Sixers in points per game despite his sporadic appearances so far. It will be interesting to see how they handle his workload, but Rivers suggested that Joel had the ability to pull himself from the game if it was required. Luckily for the Sixers, it wasn’t.

Tobias Harris has been red hot recently. He put up 21 points against the Suns as well as 8 boards and 6 assists, showing confidence on both ends of the floor. This was definitely something the Sixers needed to see from him and he’s now averaging 44% from 3-point range. Considering how fast the Hawks play, the rise of Tobias couldn’t come at a better time.

Speaking of three-pointers, Georges Niang tied a career-high seven 3-pointers on Tuesday, giving the Sixers another viable scoring option. This was crucial considering Tyrese Maxey experienced a cold night of shooting. The Hawks will need to be wary of multiple perimeter threats going into Thursday, which should make life a lot easier for Joel Embiid in the paint.

As far as the Hawks go, expect a rapid-fire offense and plenty of challenges for the Sixers defense. They rank 6th in points per game, 2nd in FGM/Game, and 1st in Assist/Turnover. This is thanks large in part to Trae Young and an offense that has been built around his unique ability.

Trae Young is averaging over 28 points per game, while Dejounte Murray is on 22.3, and former first-round pick, De’Andre Hunter, is on 14. The Hawks are built to make teams pay in transition and to hurt you with speed. There’s no questioning that this is going to test a Sixers defense that has looked suspect at times this year.
