Toronto Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs currently ride a four-game losing streak. Seventh in the Atlantic Division, they’re off to another underwhelming start. Tonight will be critical for Toronto, hoping to turn their fortune around versus the Flyers.
Throughout the four-game skid, the Maples Leafs scored nine goals. The top six contributes, but the bottom six disappears. Toronto is scoring 2.7G/60 while allowing a 3GAA.
Auston Matthews is the reigning Hart Trophy, Maurice Rocket Richard Trophy, and Ted Lindsay Award recipient. Clearly, he is the focal point of this lineup. Matthews has eight points (3G, 5A) this season. Last year, he finished with 106pts.
Here’s the projected lineup for Toronto, per Mark Masters:
Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander
Engvall-Holmberg-Jarnkrok
Aston-Reese-Kampf-Malgin
Reilly-Mete
Brodie-Holl
Giordano-Sandin
Samsonov
(Kallgren)
Philadelphia Flyers
Two consecutive overtime losses aren’t a reason for concern for the Flyers heading into tonight’s matchup. They’ve stolen a point against two powerhouse teams during their last two games.
Last night, Carter Hart stood on his head once again. The Flyers were outshot 36-19, but Hart made 35 saves.
Hart remains undefeated in regulation this season (5-0-2) and has a 2.10GAA along with a .943 SV%.
Travis Konecny had four shots last night with 23:16 of ice time. His overtime scoring chance missed wide last night, giving the Rangers a counter-attack that led to a Chris Kreider goal. Other than that, Konecny is thriving on the first line.
The Flyers have struggled in their back-to-back games this season. They won the first on both occasions but then lost the second. Tonight especially won’t be easy against an opponent desperate to find momentum.
Felix Sandstrom appears to be between the pipes for the Orange and Black tonight, giving Hart a deserved day off.
Here’s the projected lines for Philadelphia, per Olivia Reiner:
Farabee-Hayes-Konecny
N. Cates-Laughton-Tippett
Bellows-Frost-MacEwen
Deslauriers-Sedlak-Allison
Provorov-DeAngelo
Sanheim-Ristolainen
Seeler-Braun
Sandstrom
(Hart)
