When the Eagles hired Nick Sirianni there was a lingering thought that tight end Dallas Goedert would be nonexistent in this offense. During Sirianni’s time with the Colts, the offense focused on the wide receiver position more than the tight ends which led to that assumption but then again, the Colts never had a player like Dallas Goedert.

After signing an extension last season it was clear enough that Dallas Goedert would have a significant role with the team. How significant was the only question? Goedert has found a way to be option 1C for Jalen Hurts but it more so feels like he’s close enough to be option 1B.

The YAC King

So far in the season, Dallas Goedert has 16 receptions for 240 receiving yards and one touchdown. He’s currently averaging 15 yards per reception while averaging 12.6 yards after the catch.

He’s currently second in the entire league in YAC. The only player ahead of him is RB Austin Ekeler. Goedert is right above Tyreek Hill who has 173 total YAC to Goedert’s 204.

Top 5 Tight End?

He’s having a season that could catapult him to the top of the conversation when discussing Tight Ends. While he may not be as flashy as George Kittle and Travis Kelce, Dallas Goedert has been just as efficient or even better.

With the Eagles finding different ways to win every week, I would be surprised if we didn’t see a huge game out of Dallas Goedert at some point. As the chemistry of Hurts and Goedert continues to grow, the Eagles could have the biggest X-factor on their hands come playoff time. How many teams in the league can guard two number one wide receivers and a top tight end?
