The Phillies thumped the Marlins last night 6-1 to ensure that their winning streak continues. It now stands at 5 and with a win tonight, they’ll complete a sweep of the Miami Marlins. Here’s all you need to know ahead of tonight’s game.
Last time out
Miami flew out of the gates on Wednesday, but they quickly stumbled after taking a 1-0 first-inning lead. It wouldn’t last long though. Bryce Harper hit home-run #100 as a Philadelphia Phillie, J.T banged in 2 runs of his own, while the rest of the offense hummed.
Unfortunately, the Phils did potentially take a bit of a knock in losing Rhys Hoskins who is now day-to-day with an injury after being hit on the hand by a pitch on Wednesday. Losing him for an extended period of time would be a tough pill to swallow. He ranks second on the team in home runs with 28 and third in RBI’s (71), per NBC Sports.
Either way, the Phillies have a very winnable game ahead of the game tonight.
Pitching matchup
Noah Syndergaard (9-9, 4.09 ERA) vs Pablo Lopez (8-10, 4.04 ERA)
Thor has hardly been like the Syndergaard of old since joining the Phils, but he did pitch his way to an 8-3 win over the Nats last time out. This was, to be fair, despite giving up all 3 runs and 8 hits.
All signs here are pointing towards the total flying over 7.5, which is the line here.

Betting preview
The Phillies may be without Rhys Hoskins, but they’ve been red hot over the past month, and while the Marlins’ offense is lackluster at best, there should be enough opportunities for them to score against Noah Syndergaard that this game safely passes the 7.5 total.
