The 72-56 Philadelphia Phillies are back in action tonight, kicking off a three-game series against the 59-67 Arizona Diamondbacks. If you’re looking to bet on tonight’s road game, you can get a FREE $1,000 bet by clicking this link.
Things started well enough against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bryce Harper returned to the lineup, the Phils were drilling in runs for fun, and everybody was happy. Then came another classic Noah Syndergaard game and everything seemed to just…sigh.
Anyway, the good news is that Ranger Suarez returns to the mound tonight along with a renewed sense of optimism. The D-Backs have been playing better as of late, but the odds very much favor the traveling Phils this evening.
Pitching matchup
Ranger Suarez (8-5, 3.38 ERA) vs Madison Bumgarner (6-13, 4.53 ERA)
Ranger Suarez has been excellent for the Phillies as of late and hasn’t surrendered more than 4 runs in a single game since the 16th of July. The Phillies have also won 6 of his last 7 trips to the mound.
Bumgarner is trending in the opposite direction in every sense of the word. He’s allowed at least 5 runs in each of his last 5 starts and his W/L record really speaks for itself.
Betting preview
Predictably, the Phillies go into tonight’s matchup as the favorites, but it’s hard to bet against them in this spot. I think parlaying the Phils and the over could be a smart play. Philadelphia have piped in at least 4 runs in each of their last 9 games. That’s pretty much half the workload covered provided they can punch in an average day at the office.
The Phillies -1.5 and the over parlayed would be my selection for this afternoon.
