Probable Pitchers
Noah Syndergaard (7-8, 3.95 ERA) vs Luis Cessa (3-1, 5.50 ERA)
To say that the acquisition of Noah Syndergaard has been underwhelming up to this point would be an understatement. He’s allowed at least 6 hits in each start so far, giving up 11 on his Phillies debut. The Fightin’s will need the Thor of old today if the Phillies are going to right the ship.
As for Cessa, he isn’t expected to go a long way. The 30-year-old pitched 20 starts for the Yankees between 2016-18 before moving to the bullpen. He only pitched two innings in his last start, so if this is going to be a bullpen game, there is no better time for Syndergaard to turn it on and show he can still go deep into games and carry a team on his back.
Betting preview
The Phillies are listed as a favorite once again and understandably so given that their opponent only has 47 wins. With a pitching matchup that could end up being a landslide in favor of Philly if Noah Syndergaard can find his footing, I’m more than happy to back the Phils tonight.
