Phillies vs Cubs preview
The Phillies currently sit third in the NL East having completed a three-game sweep of the Marlins prior to the All-Star break. I know, I’m just as surprised. They rank 13th in batting average and 6th in runs up to this point despite being without their star player, Bryce Harper.
The bullpen appears to have really stepped up as of late, which is perfect considering that the Cubs rank 15th in batting average, 14th in OPS, and 22nd in RBI (compared to the Phils who rank 7th). If the Cubs struggle punching runs in this weekend, the Phils may finally be able to get hold of an early lead and keep it.
Justin Steele will face Kyle Gibson this weekend and while Gibby has been fairly sound for the most part, Steele holds a 4.15 ERA, which is slightly better than Gibson’s 4.35. Kyle’s most recent two starts have looked a little better, but if there is ever a matchup where runs could come easy, this is the one…which is great for your bet!
