After months of suspense and unrest, the City of Brotherly Love unleashed a scream of elation on Thursday upon the announcement that Ben Simmons had indeed been traded to the Nets along with Seth Curry and Draft picks for the services of James Harden.

While it ultimately meant that the Sixers had to say bye to Seth Curry, the fact that Ben Simmons is no longer on the roster ends what was a tumultuous year for the team, having had to deal with numerous antics that led to Simmons choosing to sit out the entire season up to this point.

In return, the Sixers will receive James Harden, who instantly becomes the best player Embiid has ever worked with. His ability to both shoot and facilitate for his teammates are still unparalleled despite his down year.

For Joel Embiid specifically, the trade finally closes the curtains on something that has been holding his efforts back. Despite numerous efforts to reach out to Ben and defend him when the criticism was loudest, Embiid was given the cold shoulder and left on his own to galvanize the team and somehow avoid an absolute implosion.

So what did MVP Candidate, Joel Embiid, have to say about the trade?

Hilarious.

For those unfamiliar with the origins of this meme, it’s among the greatest instagram posts of all time. The caption to the original image read something along the lines of:

I stopped by the funeral of one of my biggest haters today, just to make sure he was dead

And featured hashtag #DieHatersDie and #RIPBozo.

It’s impossible not to love Joel Embiid.
