Training camp is underway for the Philadelphia Eagles and there is a lot of optimism for the upcoming season. There is plenty of content covering what’s going on down at the NovaCare Complex right now, but what about what comes after the dust settles?

There are multiple Eagles close to breaking records or passing milestones during the season, so let’s take a look at who could be making history this year.

Jalen Hurts

First five starts

Jalen Hurts has four starts under his belt going into 2021. He stands at 919 passing yards. He will need 217 passing yards in his fifth start to pass Nick Foles for fifth most through an Eagles quarterback’s first five starts, and 268 to pass Carson Wentz for fourth. A 403-yard breakout would help him surpass Kevin Kolb‘s 1,321 yards for most in Eagles history.

Hurts has five TD passes through four games, which is what Donovan McNabb had through five, and will need four more to tie Mike Boryla‘s nine TD passes through five games record.

He is also just 16 yards shy of passing Randall Cunningham‘s 307 rushing yards through five games, as Hurts has 292 through four.

Hurts has 1,137 yards of total offense through four games, which is just 27 shy of passing Wentz’s 1,163 through five and just 142 away from Kolb’s 1,278 through five.

First 16 starts

Hurts needs just 12 more starts to have a “full season” under his belt. Foles has the franchise record with 4,125 passing yards through an Eagles quarterback’s first 16 starts while Carson Wentz is in second with 3,782. As it currently stands, Hurts is on pace for 3,676 passing yards.

Sonny Jurgensen holds the franchise record for passing touchdowns through 16 games with 31 and Foles is second with 29. Hurts is on pace for 20, which would be more than Wentz’s 16.

Hurts’ 73 rushing yards per game puts him on pace for 1,168 rushing yards through 16 games, which would be first in franchise history ahead of Cunningham’s 812 and McNabb’s 608.

Hurts is on pace for 4,548 yards of total offense through 16 games, which would top Foles’ 4,097 for best in franchise history.

Miles Sanders

Rushing yards through first three years

Miles Sanders currently has 1,685 rushing yards through two seasons, which is second to LeSean McCoy‘s 1,717 in the same span. If Sanders were healthy in 2020, he could’ve blown past that number. McCoy tops the list for the Eagles in rushing yards through three seasons with 3,026. So Miles Sanders will need 1,342 yards in 2021 to pass that mark, which is a 16 game average of 83.8 yards per game. Sanders averages 60.17 yards per game through two seasons.

Zach Ertz

Receptions

IF Zach Ertz plays for the Eagles this season, he has some franchise records to set.

He is only 29 receptions away from becoming the Eagles all time leader in that category, looking to pass Harold Carmichael’s 589.

Receiving yards

While Ertz has a ways to go to get to Carmichael’s 8,978 receiving yards, his 6,078 yards puts him 387 away from passing Mike Quick for fourth place and only 435 yards away from passing DeSean Jackson for third place.

DeVonta Smith

Receptions for rookie

DeVonta Smith will be heavily targeted in 2021 as a rookie WR1, so can he break the rookie reception record?

Keith Jackson holds the record with 81, Jordan Matthews is in second with 67, next is DeSean Jackson with 62, and Jeremy Maclin had 56.

Receiving yards for a rookie

With those receptions will the yards come? DeSean Jackson turned his 62 receptions into 912 yards for most in Eagles history for a rookie. Next is Jordan Matthews’ 872, then Keith Jackson’s 869, Charle Young‘s 854 is in fourth, and Jeremy Maclin is in fifth with 773.

Jake Elliott

Extra Points Made

Yeah.. Elliott can make some history this season. Then maybe get cut? Please?

He’s only nine XP’s away from fourth place all time in franchise history and he’s 42 away from third. Questioning why I listed such a large number? Well Elliott did attempt 42 in the 2017 season as a rookie. So if Sirianni can really fix this offense, 42 is attainable. Now if he can only make them…

Field Goals Made

Elliot has 88 field goals in his short Eagles career, which is already third all time. He’s four away from second place.

Brandon Graham

Sacks

He has 59 sacks as an Eagle, which is fourth all time. He’ll need a monster 17 sack season to catch Clyde Simmons’ 76.

Tackles

Graham has 414 career tackles, which puts him 45 away from passing Mychal Kendricks for fifth all time. He had 46 last season and 50 in 2019.

Fletcher Cox

Cox’s 54.5 sacks is tied with Hugh Douglas for fifth all time. He’s behind BG’s 59.0 sacks. He could join BG as one of only five Eagles players ever with 60.0+ sacks (granted BG gets one sack).
