The Phillies are coming off of a tough loss to the San Francisco Giants and go into their second game of the series with a very different looking lineup. Here’s all you need to know.

Jean Segura is out after picking up an injury in last night’s loss. A right quad strain has placed him on the 10-day IL, which comes as a huge blow for the team. He’s hit .333 so far this season with 20 hits and 7 runs to his name already.

In his place, Scott Kingery. This is a return that will make fans happy after feeling he could’ve probably been called up a few days ago. After being optioned following a disappointing spring training where he hit .159 and his .229 OBP was just 1 point better than his 2020 total, he will now get a shot at redemption.

The Phillies have also called up Spencer Howard. The team’s top pitching prospect will look to make the most of the Matt Moore hole in the bullpen, but probably won’t see too much in the way of action for the time being. His first taste of MLB action this season came against the Mets last week, where gave up a run, two hits, a walk, and struck out one batter.

DiDi Gregorius remains absent due to a right elbow injury, meaning we get to see even more from Nick Maton, who has a double and an RBI to his name through two games.

The Phillies are in the middle of facing off against the Giants.
