St John’s prove too much for LaSalle on Thanksgiving

Jamaica, NY: There is a certain buzz when a new college basketball season begins but this year is different due to the impacts of COVID19. The LaSalle Explorers opened their season against St John’s Redstorm from Carnesecca Arena in Jamaica New York on Thanksgiving Day

St John’s came out and made their presence felt in the first half. The explorers committed 14 turnovers in the first half. LaSalle pushed the lead down to 2 on a pair of separate occasions with the last one being 13-11 with 10:33 left.

Clifton Moore for LaSalle had a good first half.

Moore would also have 3 blocks in the first half.

St Johns took a 34-28 lead into halftime.

In the second half, St Johns would jump all over LaSalle and at one point have a lead up to 19 at 67-48 with 7:34 left. The Explorers showed that Philadelphia mentality of ‘never giving up’ and made a late charge as a 13-2 run crushed the lead down to 8 with 3:55 left.

A spirited effort just wasn’t enough on this night though.
