Eagles injury report: Key players set to miss week 4 clash with 49ers

Things are only going from bad to worse for the Eagles. After an extensive week of injury updates, the team released their final injury report.

The team will be without DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery at WR, while JJ Arcega-Whiteside is doubtful. The receiving corps is razor-thin but the good news is that we could see a healthy dose of John Hightower and Deontay Burnett, without the need to delve deep into the veins of the practice squad.

Carson Wentz will be without all three of his top WR targets this weekend which is scary considering how worrying he’s looked to start the season. Tossing 6 interceptions through 3 games, Wentz will need to rely on his tight ends and Miles Sanders, who could be under a pitch-count due to a nagging injury.

A slightly surprising absence is Trevor Williams. Giving up only one completion on 3 targets, Williams, took to the scheme like a duck to water and never looked back. He registered 3 tackles and a pass breakup in the process of helping to stop a Bengals offense that was starting to heat up at the worst time. In doing so, he earned glowing praise from Jim Schwartz.

The Eagles are already without Avonte Maddox and now his replacement, who performed well on Sunday, is now injured. There’s a chance Nickell Robey-Coleman shifts outside, but Schwartz may feel more comfortable playing S Jalen Mills at the position in which he made his paydirt.

Outside of that, it’s situation normal. A lot of day-to-day’s, a healthy dose of load management, and hoping that the injury bug doesn’t inject its venom once more. But for a team already pushed firmly against the wall, this only complicates matters.
