When it rains, it pours. Eagles rookie Jalen Reagor is said to have a UCL tear in his thumb and could be out for several weeks as a result.

This is the same injury Drew Brees had last year and the second in Reagor’s short career despite entering the NFL virtually injury-free. The first-round pick also missed a chunk of Training Camp due to a left-shoulder injury.

Through two games, Reagor has 96 receiving yards on 5 catches. 55 of those yards came on a huge catch against Washington, his only reception in that matchup. The rest came in week 2 against the Rams, but his involvement in the offense has been relatively minimal to this point.

For an Eagles offense that’s desperate for a sign of life, this injury stings massively. Reagor is easily one of the team’s most dynamic playmakers and with a tough stretch of games following this weekend’s matchup with Cincy, they could’ve really used his speed and elusiveness.

DeSean Jackson will still be the starting Z receiver, but expect John Hightower, Quez Watkins, and maybe even Deontay Burnett, to receive a boost in playing time.

There is no doubting that this is incredibly frustrating for the Eagles and their fans. One can only hope that Jalen Reagor returns to the field sooner rather than later and that this is separate from the trend of absurd Eagles injuries that have piled up in recent years.
