After trimming the opening day roster to 53, the Philadelphia Eagles placed Safety, Will Parks and Wide Receiver, Quez Watkins on Injured Reserve for the beginning of the 2020 regular season. Both players will be active after Week three.

Parks signed a one year deal with the Eagles this offseason and was listed as week-to-week by Head Coach Doug Pederson last week with what is believed to be a hamstring injury.

Watkins was a 6th round pick out of Southern Missouri this past offseason and is dealing with an undisclosed upper-body injury over the last couple of weeks. The specificity of the injury has not been disclosed yet by the organization.

The two moves leave the Eagles active roster at 51 so they essentially have roster spots available to fill.

It’s worth noting that today’s practice squad moves will play a role here. The Eagles are inundated with depth at safety with special teamers Rudy Ford and Marcus Epps in the wings, but could turn to someone like Grayland Arnold, who was placed on the 16-man unit earlier today. At WR, look for Summer standout Deontay Burnett to fill in for Quez Watkins if the Eagles do find themself challenged for depth.

Under the league’s updated IR rules approved during the COID-19 CBA talks, organizations are allowed to bring back an unlimited amount of players from IR after three weeks. The previous rules had only allowed for only two players to return from IR.
