In some slightly surprising Sunday news, the Philadelphia Eagles have placed LB Jatavis brown on the reserve/retired list.

This is a little weird considering that Jatavis Brown only signed with the Eagles this past offseason. There is a chance he missed the opt-out window for the 2020 season and this is a way around that, allowing Brown to sit the season out due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to Dov Kleiman however, Brown is fully intending on retiring.

Brown was only 26-years-old, wildly athletic, but coming off of a stint with the Chargers where his play, although contextual, dropped off after an emphatic rookie year.

The Eagles were already light on both depth and experience at the position anyway and this hardly makes life easier. Will they look to free agency to fill the void? Only time will tell.
