Eagles release TE to make room for Jason Peters

In order to make room for the returning Jason Peters, the Philadelphia Eagles have waived TE Alex Ellis.

Ellis had an interesting ride last summer as a late arrival who narrowly missed the cut following an explosive preseason debut where he caught 3 passes for 28-yards and a touchdown. He caught onto the practice squad and with the team only adding UDFA Noah Togiai to their group, depth behind Ertz and Goedert remains thin, with only Joshua Perkins having NFL experience.

Ellis has seen his fair share of teams so far in his young career. He’s had stints with the Jaguars, Chiefs, and the Eagles. The Eagles re-signed him to the practice squad after waiving him with an injury settlement. This might not be the last we see of the former Tennessee product.
