The five Eagles games you can’t afford to miss this season

The Eagles dropped their 2020 schedule last night and with game-by-game predictions flying in from all angles, I thought it’d be a nice idea to look at the 5 most anticipated games of the slate.

Week 1 vs Redskins

Another season opener on the road to Washington? Count me in. Last year saw the Eagles go down 17-0 to the Redskins before finally pulling some magic out of their collective hats…and by collective I mean the pairing of Carson Wentz and DeSean Jackson.

Something tells me this time will be different. There’s so much mystery and excitement surrounding the shape of this offense and how exactly so many shiny new toys will be implemented and this will be our first chance to get a real taste of the season to come.

Washington are not the toughest or most enticing opponents on the schedule, but with all the emotion surrounding a season opener being infused with the dawn of a new era, it promises to be a game you simply can’t afford to miss.

Week 14 vs Saints

The Eagles finally get to play the Saints on their terms and not inside that cursed dome that has seen them totally dismantled by the New Orleans in outfit in two of their last three games, and heartbroken in their last encounter – that playoff game. This time, the Eagles will not only look to fight fire with fire when it comes to gadget QB’s, but have a revamped receiving corps to challenge their secondary and a corner to at least try and put the clamps on Michael Thomas. Will that and the roar of home fans (if the league allows attendance) be enough to overthrow them? I don’t know, but it should be a lot closer than their previous regular-season games.

Week 12 vs Seahawks

Until the Eagles can actually beat Russell Wilson, I refuse to put money on that becoming an eventuality. Pete Carroll has had Pederson’s number every time they’ve played and although this game will be at the Linc as the heartbreaking playoff loss was, a lot has changed. This could well be the game that Wentz and company can finally engage in a shootout with the Seahawks and it could end up being the most intense game of the entire schedule.

Week 16 @ Cowboys

For some reason, the Eagles can’t seem to win in Jerry World under Doug Pederson – it just hasn’t happened during his tenure as Head Coach. However, in week 16 with a playoff berth potentially hanging in the balance, this is going to be an absolute nailbiter.

Week 6 vs Ravens

Marty Mornhinweg rejoins his former team to face another. The Ravens offense is terrifying and their defense somehow only got better this offseason. If you’re looking for a ‘measuring stick’ game to see just how hard the Eagles can punch this season, week 6 will give you that opportunity in explosive fashion and a game that could provide us some of this year’s most memorable moments.
