The Eagles announced a pair of roster moves on Thursday evening that pave the way for two of the later UDFA signings to make the roster. QB Khalil Tate and an international program product in DE Matt Leo join the Eagles, but it’s a pair of wide receivers who make way.

Marken Michel

Many were hoping to see Michel get his shot late last season when the Eagles were crying out for production from their wide receivers, and rightly so.

Michel had an explosive summer where he caught a beautiful pass from Nate Sudfeld and took it to the house for a 75-yard touchdown in the Eagles preseason opener opener.

The speedy receiver racked up 435 yards on 31 receptions, 36 yards on two carries and added six total touchdowns in 11 games in 2018 for the Calgary Stampeders.

Sony Michel’s brother may well be a name who bounces around before a later return, but he should have no problem finding a home. Obviously adding four shiny new wide receivers to the roster didn’t bode well for anyone on the edge of a practice squad bubble and it’s a shame to see Michel go.

River Cracraft

Cracraft may have the best name in football, but he was released on Thursday evening having only signed a futures deal with the team back in January of this year. The Eagles had 14 wideouts on the roster and had to make room somehow. Unfortunately, that’s life in the NFL…but the Boat for Cracraft will sail on.
