Following the lead of professional athletes around the country, Joel Embiid has pledged to donate $500k to aid both COVID-19 relief workers and Sixers-related team employees.

This donation comes less than 24 hours after Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owner Joshua Harris announced certain pay cuts would be implemented on staff working for the teams.

In a time of great need and financial stress, this is a fantastic gesture from Embiid, really solidifying how much of an icon he is in the city of Philadelphia as well as around the league.

Embiid plans to allocate his donation based on who is most in need. With the NBA season currently up in the air, a lot of employees within the organization are expected to be without work for the foreseeable future.
