MLS officially sent out a press release stating the 2020 season will be suspended 30 days.

Now that the league is officially suspended, we’ll have to wait and see how this nation responds to the outbreak. If it passes inside of the 30-day window, then we will likely be able to get back to soccer on April 11, 2020.

More updates are still to come on how the season could get back underway in April.

According to multiple sources both with MLS and individual clubs, the 2020 season will be suspended indefinitely.

No soccer will be played this week or any week in the near future until league officials feel more confident in both player and fan health/safety.

The Philadelphia Union yesterday released news that they intended to play their home opener against San Jose Earthquakes Saturday evening as scheduled. However, Union fans will now have to wait much longer to see their team play.

SI.com‘s Grant Wahl was the first to get the word out via twitter.

PhillySportsNetwork.com is still awaiting official word from Philadelphia Union communications and MLS Communications on decisions of extending this suspension and any other updates regarding returning to play. More to come.
