Roman Catholic moves to title game with big win over Archbishop Wood

There are certain Sporting events that everyone looks forward and for high school basketball in Philadelphia, the Catholic League Semifinals are as big as it gets – held at the Palestra on the campus of University of Pennsylvania on Wednesday night. Roman Catholic took on Archbishop Wood in one of the matchups.

Roman would get off to a very fast start, with Senior Lynn Greer lll making some big shots early on. it was a 19-8 lead for Roman at end of the first quarter. During the second, Wood cut into the lead, getting it down to 8 at 28-20 with 4:15 left in the quarter.

Archbishop Wood made a big stop late in the second quarter & came down and beat the buzzer to end the second quarter. Roman took 36-26 lead at halftime.

During the second half, Roman continuted to put the pressure on Wood.

Roman Catholic added to the lead in the third quarter on a 3 by Lynn Greer lll.

In the 4th Quarter, Archbishop Wood would start to make the comeback and at one point they got Roman lead down to 8 at 59-51 with 5:48 left but the defense for Roman Catholic was to much.

Roman Catholic sealed the win and will return to the Championship game to defend their crown.

Roman Catholic will now play the winner of Neumann-Goretti vs Archbishop Ryan.

Numbers: Lynn Greer III (20 points), Justice Williams (25 points) & Jalen Duren (20 points, 28 rebounds) for Roman, while Rahsool Diggins had 35 points for Archbishop Wood
