With the 2020 NBA trade deadline now coming to a close, the Sixers will have to round out the rest of their roster by releasing some of their current players. While more moves may be coming in the near future, as of right now Trey Burke is the only victim of a release.

Trey Burke failed to ever make a serious impression on Brett Brown and the rest of the Sixers coaching staff. Appearing in just 25 games this year, Burke only averaged 5.9 points per game.

While Burke might’ve won the hearts of Sixers fans everywhere, his role on the team eventually became expendable. Raul Neto has emerged as the primary backup, and with Burks and Robinson III arriving, the lack of available guard-minutes is prominent.

There were heavy rumors that both Kyle O’Quinn and Jonah Bolden would be released as well, however, nothing was ever officially announced. Both individuals are not traveling with the team today as the Sixers take on the #1 seed Milwaukee Bucks.

One more release could very well be in the books, as the Sixers most likely would prefer to have G-League standout Norvel Pelle back on the main roster. If the buyout market interests the Sixers as well, both backup bigs could eventually see themselves released. As of right now though, they remain on the Sixers active roster.
