Nate Gerry ws one of the most perplexing Eagles of the entire 2019 campaign. On one hand, he’d make incredibly intelligent plays and make vital tackles in key moments. On the other, the opposite.

But adding some clarity to his up-and-down play may be the fact he played through an injury similar to that of DeSean Jackson. An injury he sustained in the heart of Training Camp.

Gerry was a rotational piece heading into the season, so when the opportunity arose to play defensive snaps, he chose to risk it all and make the most of that opportunity. He ended his third NFL season with 72 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 5 pass breakups, 1 iconic pick six, and a fumble recovery. Not bad for a player battling a season-long injury. Not bad at all.

The Eagles clearly like what they have in Gerry and his accomplishments in 2019 now seem that much more impressive. There’s a high ceiling, he seemed a little too far away from reaching to many, but maybe he’ll take a significant step forward when fully healthy, if he can play as many snaps as he did this year (630).
