In another episode of “Who Else can be Injured?” the Flyers announced that Shayne Gostisbehere is expected to miss approximately three weeks. Ghost, who didn’t play last night due to a knee injury, will have arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday, January 14th. The injury couldn’t have come at a worse time. The Flyers just lost Justin Braun until after the All-Star Game with a groin injury.

Ghost has had a roller-coaster style season and has spent much of his time relegated to the third pairing. He has been struggling a bit as of late and has been a bit of a target for disgruntled Flyers fans. In 40 games this year, Ghost has 12 points and is a minus two. The three-week timetable puts him back against the Penguins on January 31st, just after the bye week. In all, Ghost should only miss six games. With the recent call up of Mark Freidman, it is unsure if the Flyers will bring up another defenseman.

Roster Move

The Flyers also announced another roster move. They have sent the much-maligned Mikhail Vorobyev back to Lehigh Valley and recalled David Kase. Vorobyev has three points in 20 NHL games. He also sits at a minus five. Fans have been critical of Vorobyev for taking penalties and lack of hustle.

Kase comes back to the Flyers having scored one goal in five games. Kase brings speed and energy to the game that the Flyers can certainly use.

More Injury News

Egor Zamula will miss three to four months. He is considered one of the Flyers’ top defensive prospects. Zamula just finished playing for Russia in the World Junior Classic. He played the tournament while injured. The injury bug continues to hit the Flyers on all levels.

The injury-prone Flyers host the Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday, January 11. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM. This is the second of seven home games the Flyers have in their next 10 games.
