In a slightly surprising move, the Eagles announced that LB Kamu Grugier-Hill has been placed on injured reserve, doing so with the following statement.

“Following Sunday’s game at Washington, Kamu Grugier-Hill reported back discomfort to team physicians. On Monday afternoon, an MRI confirmed a lower lumbar disc herniation. After consulting with the team’s spine surgeon, the decision was made to proceed with surgery,” the team said in a statement.

This move undoubtedly stings the Eagles. DT Bruce Hector was promoted in his place, but LB depth has been thin all season. UDFA T.J. Edwards started in Kamu’s place against the Giants two weeks ago and it’s likely that they’ll turn to him again, or rely a little more on their nickel package (extra cornerback). It may also be worth monitoring Alex Singleton’s snaps, since he’s also seen a little more action on defense as of late.

KGH missed the opening three games of 2019 with a knee injury, but the special teams captain returned to account for 23 tackles, 4 TFL, and a fumble recovery prior to the injury.

The 25-year old is also a pending free agent so this could play a role in where his future lies.

Former sixth-round pick LB Deshaun Davis was signed to the practice squad today, having spent time with the Jags and Bengals.
