Thanksgiving Week in Philadelphia College Hoops

As the nation gets ready for the Thanksgiving holiday, the action in college basketball has been great. Let’s take a look at what is going on with the Philadelphia college hoops.

Temple

Last week, the Owls took down USC to remain undefeated at 4-0 on the season. Now the Owls will prepare to take part in the Orlando Invitational. They take on Maryland on Thanksgiving at 11 AM and then play either Harvard or Texas A&M. Temple’s next home game will be December 7 against Missouri.

Villanova

The Wildcats took part in the Myrtle Beach Invitational and made the title game against Baylor. Unfortunately, they suffered an 87-78 defeat. The Wildcats stand at 4-2 on the season and are now ranked Number 22 in the new AP Top 25 poll. This week, the Wildcats will return home for a Big 5 battle with LaSalle on December 1st.

Penn

The Quakers went 1-1 last week with a win over Providence and loss to Lafayette. This week, Penn will hit the road to take part in the Wooden Legacy in Anaheim California as they take on UCF on Thanksgiving night at 8:30 PM. After that, they will take on either Arizona or Pepperdine. The Quakers next home game will be against Widener on December 21st.

Saint Joseph’s

Last week, the Hawks played in the Charleston Classic in Charleston South Carolina. The Hawks went 0-3 with losses to Florida, Towson and Missouri State. Saint Joseph’s stands at 2-5 on the season and will look to get back to their winning ways as they take on Saint Francis on November 30th.

Drexel

The Dragons went 1-0 last week by taking down Bryant. The Dragons would begin this week by taking down Rosemont on November 25th and now will look for back to back wins when they take on UMBC on November 30th.

LaSalle

The Explorers are 1-2 on the season. Their last game was November 16th which saw them fall to Temple.

The Explorers are taking part in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero Florida and started the tournament with a win over Murry State on November 25th. They will take on Wright State on November 26th. The next time the Explorers are in front of the home fans will be on December 14th against Morgan State.
