One day after releasing former Vikings Safety Andrew Sendejo, the Eagles have signed…former Vikings safety Marcus Epps.

The two were released at an almost identical time so in essence, it’s almost like a trade. The Eagles will regain a fourth-round compensatory pick in next year’s NFL Draft due to the release of Andrew Sendejo, and in his place, they bring in a rookie.

Epps was selected by the Vikings in the sixth-round of this year’s NFL Draft and played in eight games before being waived by Minnesota. At 6’0, 198 lbs, Epps played in 32% of the team’s special teams snaps and just 2% on defense. His role in Philadelphia will likely fit a similar mold to begin with.

This could mean that we see more from Avonte Maddox at Safety or Rudy Ford in place of Andrew Sendejo. A bump in defensive snaps for Ford would make sense, giving Epps the special teams snaps he would leave behind.

Epps racked up 325 tackles, 9 picks, 22 PBU, 2 sacks, and 19.5 tackles for a loss during his time at Wyoming.

Interestingly, Epps recorded a 38.5-inch vertical at his Pro-Day (the same as mine, believe it or not), but recorded a 4.52 seconds during the 40-yard dash, which should at least give some kind of insight as to the type of player he is.
