The Eagles are simply waiting on Howie to be Howie

Unknown

Since 2016, The Eagles have been on the rise as a premier franchise in the league. With the triple-headed monster in Howie Roseman, Doug Pederson and QB Carson Wentz, leading the way, it seems like it’s just a matter of time until the Eagles become “that” franchise.

Speaking of being “that” franchise, with all of the current trade rumors swirling around, it seems like the Eagles are constantly being associated with them somehow. It’s almost an expectation from fans, that Howie Roseman will make a big trade whenever a big name comes up. I mean why wouldn’t he? He offered a 2nd round pick for Amari last year, and reportedly a first and a second-rounder this year for Jalen Ramsey.

Howie Roseman has been a marksman when it comes to integrating needs with big-name players, see for yourself below in this ultimate Howie guide:

There’s no doubt about it when Howie needs to get busy, he gets busy. Many fans felt let down when the Eagles missed out on Clowney even after Howie stated that he wanted to bet on his coaching staff and their development of young players instead of always making a move. The question now is how much will that come back to haunt them? The team is an odd position where the injuries continue to pile up on both sides of the ball and there are glaring needs in so many positions.

Two glaring needs reside on the defensive side of the ball. The Eagles are losing corners left and right and the rumors of the pursuit of Jalen Ramsey isn’t helping the Eagles brass. This has been a position that has been semi-neglected for so many years. Jones has shown that he can’t stay healthy and Ronald Darby isn’t living up to his former self. The Eagles need to make a move at corner more than any position.

The other position is defensive end. While the team has depth, the experience is showing in the lack of sacks that the team has. Although the Eagles’ defensive line coach, Phillip Daniels, has stated that he prefers QB pressures over sacks. There’s no denying that the Eagles may have made a mistake on building the line. Sacks have been a thing that keeps defenses from losing games, just ask Khalil Mack and the Bears.

All in all, if Howie is going to make a move, it’s going to be a name that no one is expecting. As much as the world wants to see Ramsey in midnight green, don’t put all your chips on it. Howie will gear his focus to players that he’s more than able to trade for, but time is running thin.
