Todd Zolecki was first to report the news.

Chris Young will not be the Phillies pitching coach in 2020. Young started in 2018 as the Phillies Assistant Pitching Coach alongside Rick Kranitz.

This offseason Kranitz was let go in favor of Chris Young. Kranitz moved on to be the pitching coach of the Atlanta Braves.

The Phillies were 17th in ERA in 2019 with a 4.53. They also allowed the 5th most home runs with 258.

Matt Breen confirmed the news.

Breen also confirms yesterday’s news that a decision on Gabe Kapler will not happen until next week.

The fact that Matt Klentak’s position isn’t under question is a new tidbit, but not a surprising one. Matt Klentak made several moves this offseason that are now in question, but for the most part, it was a success.

He acquired JT Realmuto from the Marlins, who will probably have MVP votes. He swapped the Phillies worst reliever (Luis Garcia) for, now, one of their best relievers (Jose Alvarez). Of course, he also signed Bryce Harper to a 13-year deal.
