Philadelphia: A new era has arrived for the Temple Owls Football team lead by Coach Rod Carey as they opened the 2019 season against Bucknell Bison from Lincoln Financial Field in south Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon.
Bucknell won the toss & defered to second half. Temple would start the game with the ball & jumped all over Bucknell as they got out to a 28-0 lead with 11:45 left in the second quarter. The Bison received a break off an Owls mistake when QB Anthony Russo was intercepted byGavin Pringle, who returned for it a Pick 6. But the joy was shortlived due to a missed extra point. The Owls kept the foot on the gas pedal, and Russo threw his third touchdown of the half to send the Owls into the locker room up 35-9.

After a fourth Russo TD made the score 45-12, the Owls sent out their backup QB to start the fourth quarter, Todd Centeio. He picked up where Russo left off, tossing an 89 yard touchdown to Travon Williams.
This was a good way to make a good first impression for your new Head Coach Rod Carey. For the Owls, this was their first win to start the season since 2015 as they have lost the last 4 years to start the season.
The Owls will now get ready for a big test when they take on Maryland on Septmber 14 at 12PM at Lincoln Financial Field.
