Philadelphia Wings Notebook: Trades, awards and updates

Philadelphia: We are only 5 months from the start of the 2019-20 National Lacrosse League season & all the teams around the league continue to prepare for a new challenge.

Let’s take a look at what is going on with the Philadelphia Wings and the Rest of the NLL.

Philadelphia Wings:

On July 23, the Wings would announce they had made a trade with the Buffalo Bandits

In the trade, the Wings would acquire goaltender Zach Higgins & 2020 fourth round pick from Buffalo Bandits in exchange for goaltender Doug Buchan and a 2020 second-round pick

Wings Coach & GM Paul Day on the trade:
“We are very excited for Zach to join the Philadelphia Wings, He has had experience as a starter in the NLL. He is 28 years old and we think he is ready to take the next step.”

Doug Buchan played in 17 games for the Wings going 2-11 with 13.17 GAA and made 532 saves.

Honors

The NLL would announce their first and second teams for the 2018-19 season, that featured two wings Players!

NLL News:

The National Lacrosse League would announces that the 2019 NLL Entry Draft will be held at Xfinity Live in Philadelphia on Tuesday, September 17th and will be  broadcast live for free on B/R Live.

NLL Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz:
“Hosting the draft in Philadelphia last year and putting on a first class show and live broadcast was an important step toward branding the NLL Entry Draft as one of our most important annual events, We’re looking forward to returning to Xfinity Live! for a second straight year this September and welcoming a new class of players that will continue to expand our talent pool of the very best lacrosse players in the world.”

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney:
“The City of Philadelphia is excited to welcome the National Lacrosse League’s NLL Entry Draft again this year, We look forward to hosting the 2019 Draft and lacrosse fans from across the country. The energy at Philadelphia’s Xfinity Live! in September is sure to be off the charts, and we can’t wait to be part of this great lacrosse tradition for the second year in a row.”

The 2019-20 season will feature two new teams in New York & Rochester.
