Brad’s Bamboo Boom helped lift the Phillies to a much-needed win

No one thought we’d ever see it again. A win for the Phillies had been rarer than an Aaron Nola hit.

Thanks to bamboo, there is winning in Philadelphia again. The Phillies won big over the Mets 13-7. It all started with one plant.

Brad Miller, the recently acquired infielder, brought a little luck to the Phillies clubhouse.

“This will bring us some wins. I can feel it.”, said Miller in an interview with John Clark. When asked if it worked, Miller stated that it had worked before dating back to his time in AA.

Miller also said “when” the Phillies win he is going to buy everyone on the team their own personal lucky bamboo.

Well the bamboo worked for everyone in the lineup (Eflin not so much).

Kingery, Segura, Harper, Hernandez, and Franco all had multi-hit games. No one in the starting lineup, sans Eflin, was held hitless.

Until tonight, Jean Segura had been hitting only .190 in the month of June. He went 4 for 6, just a triple shy of the cycle.

Hoskins, Franco, and Bruce all added home runs of their own.

Although the Phils got the win, Eflin was the only player whose luck wasn’t heightened by the mystical bamboo. He went 5 innings, allowing 11 hits and 6 earned runs.

The 13 runs scored on Monday night were more that the last 4 games combined. The win ends a 7 game losing streak, the longest of the year for the Phillies.

The bamboo worked and in fact, there are already THREE Twitter accounts claiming to be Brad Miller’s Bamboo. For your viewing pleasure, they are @millersbamboo @Millers_Bamboo and @BradBamboo.

Tomorrow expect to see a whole lot more lucky bamboo around Citizen’s Bank Park.
