With the 72nd-overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers selected defenseman, Ronnie Attard from the Tri-City Storm of the USHL.

Attard, a White Lake, Michigan native, took off this past season for Tri-City. He posted 30 goals and 34 assists in 48 games for the Storm and won the USA Hockey Junior Player of the Year. Additionally, Attard was crowned USHL Player of the Year and USHL Defenseman of the Year.

Posting 30 goals from the blueline is not an easy accomplishment at any level. At 20-years-old, Attard is a bit of a late bloomer but some players just need more time to develop. He will join Wade Allison at Western Michigan University next season as he looks to continue his develop.

The Flyers needed to restock the prospect pool with quality defensemen. They started that movement yesterday with Cam York and continued doing so with taking Attard in the third round Saturday. Attard is still a few years away from being ready to play professional hockey. Of course, Philadelphia has the luxury of being able to wait so it is a perfect fit.
