According to NJ.Com’s Mike Kaye, Eagles running back Josh Adams will not be present for the opening phase of the team’s offseason conditioning program that kicks off today. While this is a completely voluntary program, Kaye cites that Adams should be set to return by the time Training Camp rolls around in July.

“Adams underwent labrum surgery following the team’s divisional-round playoff loss to the New Orleans Saints in January, the individual said. Adams was given a six-month timetable for a return, so he should be able to participate in training camp in July.”

Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame, Josh Adams would eventually push himself into a starting role, where he started five games late in the season, totaling 333 rushing yards and a trio of touchdowns in that span. As injuries ripped their way through the backfield, Adams went from being an afterthought to a key piece in the resurgence of a rushing attack late in the season,

Adams proved himself as a downhill runner, ending his rookie season with 511 total yards, the most on the team.

As for next season, his bid to retain a starting role may now be on hold. The Eagles acquired Jordan Howard this offseason and look poised to select from a plethora of complimentary backs in the upcoming NFL Draft.

But many made the mistake of writing Adams off before, dare they do it again?
