Game recap: Princeton takes down Penn, Sweeps Season series

Philadelphia:
In the Ivy league you think of certain games & battles that just stick and one of them took place at the Cathedral of College Basketball, the Palestra on Saturday afternoon as the Penn Quakers took on the Princeton Tigers. Penn comes into the game with a 10-5 record and 0-1 in the Ivy League while the Tigers are 8-5 and 1-0 in the Ivy League, these teams played each other on January 5 and Princeton beat Penn in OT.

Princeton would open the scoring with 2 at the line and then Penn would match them, Penn would take their first lead of the game by Jackson Donahue which made it 11-9. The Tigers would rally back and get the Quakers lead down to 1 at 21-20 with under 3 minutes left & they would take the lead at 22-21. This would be a defensive battle in the first half. The game would be tied at 27 at halftime,

At halftime, they honored the 40-year anniversary of the 1978-79 Penn Quakers that made the final four

In the second half, both teams would pick up where they left off and Princeton would jump out to an early lead and the Quakers would go on a run and just make things interesting the rest of the game. Penn would cut the Tigers lead down to 3 at 48-45 with 6:32 left in 2nd half. The Tigers would get the lead up to 8 at 58-50 and Penn just ran out of time as the Tigers take down the Quakers 62-53. Princeton would sweep the season series from the Quakers. This would also be the 4 straight loss for Penn.

Penn will look to end their losing streak as they head into Big 5 battle with Temple on January 19 and the Tigers will take on Wesley on January 27.
