It took until 2019, but the Phillies have finally found their back end of the bullpen help. According to Mark Feinsand, the Phillies signed former Yankee David Robertson to 2-year deal worth at least $23 million. The deal reportedly has a $12 million option for 2021.

While Robertson is no spring chicken at 33 (34 in early April), he has been one of the most consistent relievers in the MLB. Since 2009 (almost his entire career), he’s had an ERA of 2.76. That ERA has only been over 3.5 once in that span, 2010. In 69.2 IP last year for the Yankees, Robertson had a 3.23 ERA with 91Ks.

While it is not known if Robertson will close with the Phillies, he has had 137 saves in his career, so it is a possibility.
