According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapport, one Eagle underwent surgery this morning. Not Carson Wentz, not Jordan Hicks, not Darren Sproles, not Jason Peters. It was wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, who went under the knife to repair a torn rotator cuff.

This in itself is absolutely stunning. Jeffery not only played in all 16 regular games for the Eagles, but in each of the post season matchups as well, including Super Bowl 52. Even more impressively, Jeffery totaled 789 yards and 9 touchdowns during his first season as an Eagle, earning himself a contract extension that would keep him in the City of Brotherly Love through 2021.

The Eagles offense has opened up tremendously since the arrival of Jeffery. Nelson Agholor and Zach Ertz amassed a total of 16 touchdowns this season as well as 1,592 yards. Mack Hollins caught an unsuspecting Defense off-guard for a 64-yard score on a Monday night win and the ball is being spread around more than we have ever seen before in Philadelphia, with nine receivers having more than 100 yards on the year.

It was a slow start, but Jeffery would go on to catch seven touchdowns in seven games, building on his chemistry With Wentz and becoming a true number one wideout in the process.

After catching fire late on in the regular season, Jeffery burst out of the gate in the playoffs, catching 4-of-5 passes for 61 yards and of course caught three touchdowns in the NFC Championship game and the Super Bowl combined.

All with a torn rotator cuff.

You the real MVP, Alshon.
