Rookie Shelton Gibson set to make Eagles debut while Burton and Allen will be sidelined

The Eagles have released their official list of inactives ahead of today’s showdown against Chicago. While the list is relatively unsurprising, there is one key cog of note.

Rookie wideout Shelton Gibson is set to make his debut with Marcus Johnson listed as inactive. Gibson barely stuck onto the roster after a tumultuous offseason and is yet to experience any league action. Given the team’s position and the fact Johnson hasn’t had a reception since a TNF win over Carolina, getting Gibson some live-game experience could be seen as a positive move.

Both Trey Burton and Beau Allen are out with injury after being limited in practice this week. Isaac Seumalo will be the third tight end and replace Burton in a blocking capacity, while rookie Elijah Qualls will likely step up to the plate in place of Beau Allen.

Both Will Beatty and Dannell Ellerbe who signed with the team prior to last week’s clash with Dallas remain inactive, along with Nate Sudfeld who was Called up to avoid other teams snooping around, and the seemingly expended Wendell Smallwood.
