The Philadelphia eagles beat the New York Giants in a thriller yesterday. Rookie kicker Jake Elliott set the city on fire by kicking a 61 yard field goal with 1 second left to secure the win. Here are the Philly Sports Network game balls for this week:

The Running backs:

The combination of Darren Sproles, LeGarrette Blount, Cory Clement and Wendell Smallwood ran for a combined 171 yards with 2 touchdowns. The running game Eagles fans have been waiting to see was on display against the Giants.

Blount carried the ball 12 times for 67 yards and a touchdown with an average of 5.6 yards per carry, displaying the power that made him a top free agent signing for Philadelphia.

Sproles got hurt and left the game with 11 yards rushing, but Wendell Smallwood had a nice game. The second year rusher made a serious impact rushing 12 times for a team leading 71 yards with an average of 5.9 yards per carry.

Corey Clement got some time to shine with Sproles out and took advantage of his opportunity. The UDFA carried the ball 6 times for 22 yards, including a 15 yard rush for his first NFL touchdown. Clement was fast and aggressive running the ball.

The Eagles displayed the weapons they have at running back vs the Giants and finally showed some promise surrounding the units future.

Jalen Mills, CB:

If there is one Eagle who could be sent to the pro bowl after three games, it would be Jalen Mills. He has stepped up in a major way and continues to be a standout on this defense.

Mills had a battle with his former LSU teammate Odell Beckham Jr. Targeted 21 times, Mills led the eagles with 12 tackles and 2 passes defensed. Mills stayed in OBJ’s face all day even though Beckham had a couple big plays on him that included 2 touchdowns, he showed that he is one of the leagues upcoming defensive talents. The Green Goblin brings a fire and toughness to the secondary Philly didn’t have last year.

Patrick Robinson, CB:

Robinson had his best game of the season and proved why signing him was a good idea. Robinson had 5 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception. He has continued to show tough play and give the eagles another reliable corner.

Jake Elliott, K

I kept saying we going to overtime. It’s not going in! When he hit that field goal it not only shocked me, he shocked the city. Jake Elliot shocked the world. Elliot was signed off the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad, he was a 5th round pick by the Bengals and is the all-time American Athletic conference leader in career points with 445 and made field goals with 81 playing for Memphis at the college level. Before that kick his longest kick was 56 yards. It will be interesting to see if Elliott can capitalize off his momentum and threaten Caleb Sturgis’ spot.
