Finally, finally, finally the day Philadelphia Flyers fans have been craving for the past four months has arrived. The sounds of pucks hitting the ice, pucks hitting the post, and sticks banging on the ice is back in full force. Flyers training camp has officially opened for business.

The youth infusion that the orange and black will undergo this season has inspired so many people throughout the region. Gone are the days of overspending, as we don a new era of Flyers hockey. Some of these young great prospects in the farm system will make the team in the fall. Will all of them work out? Maybe not, but some will. This has Flyers fans pumped for the most anticipated in recent memory. Without further delay here are three takeaways from the first day of camp.

Top Line Unit Groups 1 and 2

Imagine this for one second. A line stacked with Claude Giroux, Travis Konecny, and Oskar Lindblom. Group 2 featured Nolan Patrick, Jordan Weal, and Wayne Simmonds. This could be the future right here. Both lines were very cohesive as units, and it looked like they all played with each other for years.

I know it’s only training camp, but the thought of Oskar Lindblom being on a top line makes me think the Flyers are giving him every shot to make the opening night roster.

Note: Forward Pascal Laberge left the ice, and is currently being evaluated for an undisclosed injury. We will have more forthcoming. Nicolas Aube-Kubel is fine and did participate in action today.

Defensive Pairings

1. Ivan Provorov-Travis Sanheim

2. Robert Hagg-Shayne Gostisbehere

The thoughts of having these four bright young guns together on one team are sending the orange clad fans the chills at the moment. With these defensive pairings, could that possibly spell the end of Andrew McDonald? Anything is possible.

We cannot forget that Mark Friedman was phenomenal at the rookie game. Friedman also had a great day at camp in group 1. Moreover, it was nice to see Philippe Myers back on the ice, after sustaining a lower-body injury during the rookie game.

The Fans

What more can be said about the great fans of Philadelphia? The proud orange clad fans pack the house night after night, even if the team isn’t performing well. They are very knowledgeable and support their team through thick and thin. Well, they packed the house today at training camp on a Friday morning at 9:45 a.m, to see their proud team on the ice for the first time formally. The Flyers have the best farm system in hockey according to hockeyinsiders.net, well they also have the best fans in hockey, as well.
