The 2017 basketball recruiting class for the Temple Owls is a very impressive one. Ranked no. 63 by 247 and no. 4 in the AAC temple added firepower for the upcoming season with these 4 talented players.

The top recruit of Temples 2017 class is 4 star 6-3 point guard Nate Pierre- Louis, he was rated no.3 in the state of New Jersey, no.33 among point guards and the 176th prospect by 247. Louis is explosive. He can get above the rim and dunk with authority; he has a scorers mentality and will be a handful for opposing teams right away. Louis averaged 13.4 points 4.3 rebounds 2.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game while shooting 49 percent from the field for Roselle Catholic high school.

4 star small forward JP Moorman is the no.2 rated prospect of the temple basketball 2017 class, he has a great all-around game and will make teammates around him better. Moorman is my favorite player in this class and I believe is a 5 star talent, Moorman’s game resembles a more explosive Nicolas Batum. He is one of the best players in the nation in transition, Moorman has the skills to play point guard as well he has range and is explosive going to the hole. Moorman was rated no.4 in North Carolina and no.43 among small forwards and the 190th player in the 2017 class by 247.

4 star PF Justyn Hamilton is the 3rd rated prospect of Temples 2017 recruiting class; he has power and is very athletic at 6-10. The Independence high star out of Greensboro, North Carolina provides a presence on defense and is strong in the post. Hamilton will be great on fast breaks and he can play above the rim and is a problem in the post. Hamilton is a top 5 player in North Carolina and is 31 among power forwards in the class of 2017 by ESPN. I can see Hamilton making a defensive impact right away, for Independence high school in the 2016-17 season Hamilton not only averaged 11.8 points 9.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals Hamilton blocked 3.6 shots a game.

The 4th rated prospect of the temple class is another underrated prospect who will be a big time gamer for Temple basketball, high 3 star small forward De’Vondre Perry. Perry’s game has always resembled Jamal Masburn with more athleticism to me; he is a bully driving to the basket but can also show finesse. He is another player that can rise above the rim with power and is also good in transition like the other 3 players in this class. He is no.7 in the state of Maryland and no.45 among small forwards for the class of 2017. In his last season of high school, Perry had an outstanding season as he averaged 19.9 points 9.1 rebounds 4.5 assists with 2.8 blocks while leading Baltimore Polytechnic Institute to their first 3A state title in school history. Perry also averaged 28 points 12.5 rebounds 4.5 assists and 3 blocks a game in the Semi-final and final which became the best performance in the state tournaments history, Perry was also named the Prep hoops Baltimore Player of the Year.

This class will make an immediate impact on the Temple Owls and I think this will put Temple in the tournament. The Temple staff did a great job of evaluating and recruiting as each player not only can be good offensive players but good defensive players. Perry is an all-around talent who will fill the stat sheet and be exciting along with Pierre-Louis. Moorman and Hamilton bring the size to this class, both will make a defensive impact but Moorman gives you more with his point forward skills. Moorman could bring the ball up the floor to let the guards play off the ball. These 4 prospects not only will help Temple this year but really makes the future of Temple basketball fun to watch.
