According to an official announcement from the team, the Philadelphia Eagles have signed seven of their eight newly drafted rookies to four-year contracts.

The only player left to sign his deal, is first round pick Derek Barnett. It’s not yet clear why Barnett hasn’t put pen to paper, but given the Eagles salary cap situation, it may have something to do with the contract being fully guaranteed. While this most likely something that will be worked out with relative ease, it’s still interesting to keep an eye on.

The immediate comparison to make would be Joey Bosa last season, who held out through Training Camp before finally signing his rookie deal with the now L.A Chargers. I doubt that the Eagles would allow the Barnett situation to get to that stage, and it’s likely that they announce the signing of their first round pick within the next few days, given that rookie minicamp kicks off tonight.
