The Eagles first pick of day 3 has been announced, with the team naming former North Carolina wideout Mack Hollins as their 118th overall pick.

A collar bone injury held Hollins back in 2016, as he received for 309 yards and four scores in the seven games he did play. In the year beforehand, he averaged 24.8 yards per reception and recorded eight touchdowns and 745 yards on 30 targets. So, what does Hollins bring to the table?

The prototype the Eagles need:
Not only is Hollins 6’4, but he also has blistering speed for his size, running a 4.53 40-yard dash time at the combine. From Bryce Treggs to Dorial Green-Beckham, the Eagles have craved a deep threat and a redzone target for quite some time now..and with the long-term futures of Jeffery and Smith still cloudy, Hollins could be the perfect compliment to an already dynamic WR corps.

Production:
It was the name of the game last night, and it is once again today. With 20 touchdowns on 71 receptions, Hollins is a safe pair of hands with an incredibly dangerous frame. Injuries stopped him from propelling up draft boards..but the Eagles may just have a hidden ace up their sleeve.
Special teams:
Until now, the Eagles perennial special teams unit lacked contributions from wide receivers. Not a single Eagles wideout played on Fipp’s prestigious unit last season, but with 20 special teams tackles in three years, the frame and physical nature of Hollins could see him at the very least be a strong addition to an integral part of the Eagles roster.
DGB on notice?
Well, Dorial Green-Beckham hardly thrived with the Eagles in 2016, and they may have found his eventual replacement in Hollins, or at least someone to make him double take and entice competition during training camp. He fits the exact same mold and comes without the character concerns..as well as being available for a longer period of time.
The perfect compliment:
In 2017, the Eagles receiving corps is stacked..but how it will fare beyond that is anyones guess. Hollins ticks every box that the Eagles have for their prototypical wide receiver. Someone who’s physical, tall, fast, can win at the top of routes, and who will contribute on special teams. Production trumps all and as a fourth round pick, Hollins could be a snug fit in Pederson’s offense.
