After making a series of roster moves last night, the Eagles had one roster spot remaining. That vacancy has now been filled by running back Byron Marshall, according to an official announcement from the team.

The former Oregon running back has been stashed on the Eagles practice squad this year, after an interesting preseason. Marshall caught 8 passes for 60 yards and rushed 34 times for 86 yards during the four game span.

Wendell Smallwood’s MCL sprain and a concussion to Darren Sproles has left the Eagles light on running back depth, but luckily the Eagles have one more ace up their sleeve in Byron Marshall.

The loss of Darren Sproles will be felt massively by the Offense, but Marshall could well be the dual-threat back of the future. He stunningly both received and rushed for 1,000 yards during his college career and even returned kicks. Marshall returned a total of 19 kicks for 450 yards, averaging over 20 yards per return during his Collegiate career.
